Concert Band

Concert band is a group of student musicians who take on a number of different modern pieces of music including An Evening at the Pops and Ancient Voices.  The group is led by Miss Cooper, Head of Music and has also been supported by Mr Tyrell (seen conducting the choir at this year’s Christmas concert) and other teachers.  The pieces that this group has performed have been very successful and last year the group was entered into the National Youth Festival of Music along with Youthful Spirit, the school senior gospel choir.  Although the group did not win a prize in their category they did reach the national finals along with Youthful Spirit demonstrating the high level of talent that this and the other groups at Churchill have at their disposal.  To listen to an extract of Ancient Voices performed by the band select play on the track below:

Rehearsals:

• Rehearsals for this group have now ended for this year, but the group will begin rehearsing again at the start of the next school year with a new and exciting piece.
