Youthful Spirit

Youthful Spirit is a successful gospel choir run by head of music, Miss Cooper.  This group is one of the most well known at Churchill and has been on a number of tours across the globe including Austria, Germany and Greece as well as travelling into countries such as Slovenia and Italy.  On each of these tours the group has been very popular and has been invited back to a number of locations many times.  This year the choir intends to go on their third tour in Austria where their reputation as an exciting and enthusiastic choir has become well established.  Last year the choir also entered into the National Youth Festival of Music and performed at the finals but unfortunately did not win a prize.  However Mr Tyrell, one of the department teachers, received a composer's award for a piece he had composed for the choir to perform.  The popularity of the choir has grown massively over recent years with the current choir being the biggest in size so far. Repertiore includes a number of Kirk Franklin songs such as Melodies from Heaven, African music and popular modern songs.   For more information visit www.youthfulspirit.org.uk.
